Laszlo M. Szabo

Laszlo
has worked in the communications business, on both sides
of the microphone, for over twenty-five years.
He studied Journalism and Communications
at Laval University in Québec City, before joining
the CBC as a public affairs reporter in 1975. He also
worked as a reporter with the Canadian
Press news agency in Montreal.
Laszlo moved to Ottawa in 1980 where
he worked as press attaché and communications
advisor to two federal Cabinet Ministers.
He later held several management positions
with the Canada Post Corporation, including senior spokesperson
and divisional manager of Corporate Communications.
In 1994, Laszlo launched Immedia Communications,
a communications consulting firm specializing in media
and presentation skills training, strategic communications
planning and the Internet.
Immedia Communications provides customized training
seminars and workshops as well as various communications
services to a number of corporate and institutional clients
including the Department of Justice, the House of Commons,
the RCMP and Emergency Preparedness Canada.

David Coulombe

Fully bilingual and a Political Science graduate from the University of Ottawa, David has been working in the fields of Communications and Media for over 21 years.
David worked as a radio reporter in the National Capital for ten years, covering federal provincial and municipal news. He also worked as a reporter with the CKAC radio station in Montreal.
He held several senior communications positions with the City of Gatineau, the fourth largest municipality in Quebec, including manager of media relations and strategic communications as well as press attaché to the Mayor. During his term David gained invaluable insight and expertise in the communications requirements of municipalities as well as developing solid professional relationships with members of the media. David was involved in the development of the City’s Emergency Communications Plan and also acted as spokesperson for the municipality during major emergencies such as ice storms; major fires; building evacuations and infrastructure failures.
Since 2007, David is working as a media specialist within a major federal government agency.
Teaching and training has always been David’s calling. He has taught journalism and public speaking at Cité Collegiale for ten years as well as at St-Paul University for four years. He also conducted numerous media and Emergency Public Information workshops at the Canadian Police College and the Canadian Emergency Preparedness College.
David has been a senior instructor with Immedia Communications since 2003.
